Barra Fishing in Australia

There are very few fish species that excite the professional anglers of Australia. Barramundi is one species that really gets them going as this fish puts up a good fight till the end.One of the better table fish found in Australian water, the barra as it is fondly called is famous for its aerobatics when hooked. Bonefish is another favorite species of anglers in Australia but we will mainly discuss about the barra.

Bonefish

Barramundi fishing mainly takes place in the creeks, rivers and bays in clear or turbid waters. You can fish barra on the Northern as well as the Southern coast of Australia.

It grows to the extent of 1.8 m or 60 kg but a barra is caught in the range of 70 cm to 1.2 m weighing in between 10 to 20 kg. Catching a barra less than 55 cm is considered illegal in the territory.

Fishing barramundi is most productive in warmer water when the temperature and level of humidity increases. Another best time for Barramundi fishing is when the wet season winds down but is illegal in some parts of Australia to catch a barra during the wet season.

The most interesting part about a barra is the breeding story that goes with it. These fishes are all born as males and at around five years of age transform in to females for breeding. After growing to maturity in the upper reaches of fresh water they migrate downstream. The young barras are mottled brown with a white strip running through and the adult ones are blue to green-grey with silvery sides and white bellows.

Experience the Best Combo in Australia-Exmouth fishing and Snorkeling at Ningaloo

Planning for an Exmouth fishingexpedition definitely gives you one of the best angling experience. But this fantastic angling spot in Australia is not just known only for fishing. You get those wonderful times to spend here participating in Sportfishing contests at exmouth gulf and snorkeling at some of phenomenal spots at Ningaloo reef.
                                                                                           Exmouth fishing

Termed as some of the best flats in the world, the Exmouth gulf proves it with its vast expanse, islands, and mangrove lines estuaries, shallow flats and creeks. If Spangled Emperor XL Giant Trevally, Coral Trout, drives you for a big fish catch on the islands then Queen Fish, Golden Trevally, Mangrove Jack, gets you the best fly fishing experience at Exmouth Gulf.

For the family snorkeling spots at Ningaloo go here:

1.Oyster stacks- Always to try at high tides and definitely not on the low tides. Reason? You get high tides teaming with marine life and make you see the real wonders.

     Sportfishing

2.Turquoise bay-although just right for stronger swimmers but the drift is worth experiencing while making least of efforts. If you are not confident you can still explore marine life from the beach itself.

3.Lakeside-If interested in ‘from the beach snorkeling’ then this is the right spot.

4.Sandy Bay- Your kids would love the place after attempting snorkeling here. It’s more like diving in a clear shallow turquoise natural aquarium.

For all the above don’t forget to check through the tide charts.
